Norfolk & Western / Virginian Caboose Project Information
This project will consist of two classes of N&W cabooses, one wooden and one steel as well as a steel caboose for the Virginian Railway. Shown below are the various classes that will be produced, equaling or surpassing the level of quality and detail that we offered with our 'Pennsy' N5c project. Read more about the project classes below. |

The first class of N&W caboose to be produced will be the 'CF' which was the largest single group of cabooses in the system. With the 'CF' having a wooden carbody, our's will be sheathed in real laser cut wood and the configuration will be contemporary with our Y6a and Y6b models. The interior will also be sheathed in wood. |
The second N&W caboose class we are modeling is based on a steel prototype, the C-2. This is the first group of cabooses that was built by other than the roads own shops, they were constructed by the St. Louis Car Company. The design of the C-2 was based on that of the 'CH' and 'CG' classes, varying only in minor details. The trucks under all of these classes were the same T-98 design. While the exterior of the C2 model is brass, the interior is sheathed in laser cut wood. |
We are fortunate that the Virginian C-10 class cabooses were also built by the St. Louis Car Company and were virtually identical to the N&W C-2 class cabooses. All appropriate changes in detail will be made to make certain that our C-10 is totally faithful to the original. The configurations offered will be contemporary with our 'AG' class Virginian locomotive. The sample shown above is one of our new 'weathered' models. |
